Spoooooky Houses

Cruised around to shoot pictures of houses well-decorated for Halloween. I came to the conclusion that people who have invested in funny decorations are likely to be funny themselves.

Don in Mukilteo.

Not impressed

JJIE

As the Missouri Photo Workshop began to wind down, a fellow workshopper, Gwen McClure, approached me asking if I might be interested in having a story done about my story on the Juvenile Justice Information Exchange website. Very neat. She whipped up a super article, complete with bonus photographs not seen in the MPW edit.

Washington Post picture editor MaryAnne Golon said of the workshop in 2002:
"This is a bubble, a wonderful, fabulous bubble. Jump inside the bubble and say 'ooooh' and realize that this is great because it doesn't exist anywhere but here. Take advantage of it and immerse yourself."

Mt. Pilchuck/ Fog

"Fog", by Carl Sandburg, is one of my favorite poems. I thought of it when looking at these pictures from a hike today up and behind Mt. Pilchuck.

The fog comes

on little cat feet.

It sits looking

over harbor and city

on silent haunches

and then moves on.

Hole in the Wall XC

Hole in the Wall is a cross country race that's been going on for 30 years at Lakewood High School. Everybody said there would be a hole in a wall that runners would have to crawl through. There was no hole, and there was no wall.
